The smell of braaing, children’s laughter and splashing in the pool are what you’re likely to encounter at Rainbow Glen in Montagu.
The owners, Dave And Tara Webster, enjoyed the place so much that when the opportunity came up to buy the property, they snapped it up.
They’ve lovingly refurbished the cottages and the well kept garden is evidence of their personal touch.
The six self catering cottages each have a private veranda, built in braai and view of Kanonkop. Each has a fully equipped kitchenette and all linen is provided.
The large lawn is perfect for a game of croquet and the swimming pool is a welcome respite from the Karoo heat.
The property and pool are fully enclosed, so children can play safely and help feed the resident rabbits, chickens and Punk, the Shetland Pony.
Well behaved dogs are welcome.
Activities in and around Montagu include rock climbing and hiking – try a route up Bloupunt, the highest mountain in the area, with many waterfalls to enjoy along the way.
Take a stroll through the charming village where some of the houses date back to the 1850’s.
At the Saturday morning market, buy some home bakes and farm cheese. Take a tractor- trailer trip high into the Langeberg and enjoy a Potjie lunch. Finish the day with a drink in one of the friendly local pubs. If you fancy dinner out, the Montagu Country Hotel (built 1875) offers fine fare accompanied by tinklings from the resident piano player.
